MY STYLE UNIFORM – This season I went back to doing a capsule wardrobe. (See my fall capsule from last year.) When I started fashion blogging in January, I procrastinated on doing a defined capsule because all my energy went into learning how to blog. Then I picked up a part time job as a professional stylist, and my closet really became a mess as I was trying to constantly find new things to style. But now that I subscribe to Stitch Fix, I get a steady stream of new clothes delivered to my door about once a month or two! I love receiving items to style and blog about.
I’m excited about this edgy style Maisha jacket from Kut From The Kloth that a came in my Stitch Fix Box last month. It has a comfortable stretch and a moto look. I know I will wear it a ton when the weather finally cools down!
This outfit is an example of mixing black and brown. My scarf, in a classic print you can’t go wrong with, pulls everything together.
Jacket: Stitch Fix, “Maisha” | Jeans: Wit and Wisdom Super Smooth Skinny Jeans | Scarf: Marshalls, similar here & here | Handbag: Similar | Sunglasses: similar | Booties: Target “Jameson”

Thanks Jaymie. I’m still on the lookout for a more traditional moto jacket, but they don’t seem to look good on me or they aren’t comfy…This one is super comfy!! x-S

I purchased a Leather-look teal “moto” jacket with an “animal” print lining at Sears, sometime, at the spring/winter change. They also had a black Leather-look bicycle jacket. I Looked better and the fit was better with the teal “moto” leather-look jackets. These jackets were not made of real leather and were less than $45.00. However, they were “junior-plus” jackets under the brand, “Bongo-plus” so they might be too large for many people. I think, at the time, they had similar items in the regular junior section under the “Bongo” brand. They had black jackets, but other colors and styles were slightly. This was not in a big Sears store, because, I live in a “small town.” Now, that’s getting chillier and it’s Autumn and Winter is soon, you might check your local Sears store. And, the prices are very reasonable. Thank you. Also, I got rave reviews when I wore my jacket. Thank you again.

These sound great! I will try to see if I can scope it out online. I’ve bought a couple of things from Bongo and like some of the styles they have. Thanks!!!

Ditto on the jeans & tee/tank! That’s what I wear just about every day. I’m liking the longer tunic length, too. Then I add jackets/cardigan/scarves as it cools off. Haven’t seen a leopard clutch at any thrift store lately though. 🙁
Shannon says
Ann, If you ever see a leopard clutch at a thrift store – grab it for me and I will pay you back!!! It’s a little harder for me to get out there than you. LOL. xx-S

When it’s chilly and cold, it’s “pixie” pants and boyfriend shirts, plaid or plain, flannel or cotton. When it’ s just perfect weather or warm weather, rayon or cotton dresses, sometimes with “pin-tucks” in colors like yellow, blue, black, orange, pink; mostly “retro-like” print. If not cold weather, and it’s just running around town doing laundry, grocery shopping or just hanging out at home; flannel or cotton shorts, plaid or print and a t-shirt. Once in a while, I might wear a “tunic shirt” with the “pixies”. And Always, my “signature piece,” on of my many pairs of “keds Champion sneakers” print or plain and usually no matter the weather. And that’s me and my style and I am cleaning out my closet to reflect this! I do keep a couple of pair of jeans and couple a pair of cowboy boots, if the weather turns sour or the work might require this; but, I prefer to wear the “pixie” pants over jeans. I feel more like me! And, I like the versatile colors and prints! Thank you.

Love your blog and style and find your suggestions useful….my uniform is the same as yours, basic, plain top, cardi or jacket, necklace or scarf and straight/skinny jeans or dress slacks.

You are a stylish lady Ms. Lori!!! xx-S

Your uniform is great! Mine is similar, with jeans & scarves, but I tend to wear flats more. I’m going to try and change that this Fall with more booties. Pinned your look to give me inspiration !

I love the cigarette pants you had on your blog recently!! xx-S

My style is a comfy sweater and scarf with a pair of well loved jeans and booties! Shannon, I love your scarf and how you tied it. Could you do a scarf tutorial on how you tied it?
A scarf is a classic and timeless piece of art to an otherwise ordinary outfit!
Shannon says
Hi Nancy! You’re sweet to ask about my scarf. To be honest, I can’t remember how I tied it. I think I may have looped it around my neck twice and then tied one of the ends and over both loops? I love a scarf over a sweater with jeans + booties! It’s a great look. xx-S

I like your style. You look great! My style is comfortable and practical. I’m working on a smaller wardrobe, too. Not quite a capsule, but just smaller and harder-working.

Thanks for sharing! It’s great to have less pieces – you get better wear out of them. 🙂 xx-S
