SPRING CAPSULE 2017 — This week my husband was at a pastor’s conference in So Cal, so I had some extra time on my hands. I couldn’t resist playing dress up on the web and put together a spring capsule. I did a little research on the hot trends and colors for 2017, and pulled together pieces that were classy but wearable while also incorporating current styles. This guided my selection on what colors and design elements I wanted to incorporate, like green and blush, ruffles, the khaki/utilitarian look, and athleisure.  (More to come on hot trends for 2017 in a couple of weeks.) Basically, I wanted to translate “runway” to “every day.”
What I love about this minimalistic 20 piece capsule (shopping list included) is that you CAN pair each top with each bottom and each piece can be included with the layers (jacket, cardigan, vest)! It also proves you don’t need a TON of clothes or money to be stylish and vary your look. (Each piece is under $100!) You just need a well-selected assortment of garments and accessories that work together, with each piece being unique through color, texture, print or design, to create a cohesive whole.
Not only do you get the capsule, but I’ve put together 14 days of outfit inspiration! Not loving the bomber jacket trend? You can easily trade it for a denim or moto jacket and get the same casual, sporty gal look. Would you prefer to step it up? Try a colored blazer. Still feeling the chill of winter? Swap the mules for your tan fall/winter boots or booties & tights. Then, substitute a colorful sweater for the blush tank till the sun comes out. Lastly, wear your wrap coat or trench in lieu of the drapey sleeveless vest until it’s time to pack away your heavy layers.
Greenery, a yellow-green, is the color of the year. It’s not a flattering color on me, so I’ve opted for a mint. A mint tote and a corresponding handbag kept grabbing my attention at Target, so I decided to run with it.  This top handle satchel style kept catching my eye and is very trendy and classy! I’m also ENAMORED with the Madewell striped Tie Waist Button-Down Tunic . You can tie it in the front or back!

Hi Shannon, These are such beautiful color combinations! I have my eye on a couple of items! I maybe missed your reply but had asked you a couple of weeks ago if you recommend ordering from the various websites in which you post your clothing options? Some of them are overseas and I’m not always sure the companies are trustworthy. Have you actually ordered from every company you post items and do you know their sites are legitimate and secure? I see lots of cute things but am skeptical of ordering from companies I’ve never heard of. Thank you!
Shannon says
Hi Nancy! All of the companies linked on this post are pretty well known so I wouldn’t have any qualms about ordering from them myself. I have purchased items from most of these places or have seen their store fronts at a mall or outlet. 🙂 xx-S
