PARISIAN CHIC DAY DRESS – Two “must have” items for dressing like a Parisian are a black & white striped top (or dress), and a silk scarf. The art of French dressing is finding (or altering your garments) to get that perfect fit and by mixing high & low end items.
In my case, I paired low with low. I styled my H&M striped dress ($17.99, silk scarf from a Thrift Shop ($1), and classic style bag via Ross ($20.00) with a pair of Katie and Kelly shoes ($49.00). It’s style and cut that make you look sophisticated. See my PARISIAN CHIC CHECKLIST below for everything you need to dress like a French Woman. See the striped dress casually styled with a denim vest.

COMMENT OF THE WEEK:
“Love that dress on you and agree with you on that simple chic look. Having just returned from Paris, I can tell you that, that style is the trend there…The women look so put together. I would describe them as chic, classic and yet the look is so simple. Basic pieces, but good quality. I saw a lot of dark jeans in a cigarette style, ballet flats, white top, scarf, blazer or cardigan. Your dress would have fit in perfectly!” C.K.
Paris, what a treat! Thank you for sharing. I’m delighted to hear that I would be considered stylish by French standards!! C.K. has a great post about the styles she saw while in Paris! Read it here: What I Saw: Fashion in Paris.

Love the dress and they way you styled it. I would have NEVER bought that dress based on H&M’s model on the website. You made it look classy.
Thank you Susan. I just read that neckerchiefs were hot on the runway for fall 2016. I love it when I’m on trend and didn’t even plan it. 😉 xx-S
That neckchief looks so adorable on you! Just so you know, we wore those back in the 70’s, when I was 10! They were super stylin, glad to see them back! I had a cute red one also!
Thank you JoAnn. I love that you rocked the neckchief and were so stylish when you were 10! Thanks for sharing. xx-S
I have just discovered your blog and love it!! Parisian chic is timeless. Your look would be a hit here in Montreal. If anything should be added to your list, it would be a pair of sunglasses, because French women always seem to have a pair on hand.
Yes!! I totally forgot the sunglasses. Thank you Donna, you’re so right! I’m going to add that to the list! Thanks for reminding me. xx-S
