Outfit #9 of the Winter Outfit Challenge
The animal print trend has been going crazy since last year when I bought a leopard coat! Snakeskin is also having a moment, but I can’t find anything I love this reptilian style. My friend Ema has an amazing pair of loafers from Zara in snake print…shoe envy.
This week Addy, my 9-year-old daughter, told me her friend, Madeline, wore a leopard coat to Sunday School and her in her mind, she was thinking, “She’s SO LUCKY!” Inside I was dying with laughter. “You can wear mine to church next week, Honey,” I told her. She was in seventh heaven. (What is that anyway?) I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

LEOPARD COATS UNDER $40
A fur coat isn’t for everyone, but there are cute leopard top options! I’ve seen bloggers sporting leopard sweaters and blouses this season so I’ve picked out a couple you’ll find easy to wear.

I’m going to confess I don’t love this outfit. Maybe it’s because everything is old? (I’ve had these Madewell jeans for 3 years. The cashmere sweater and jacket are both from last year.)
I had trouble putting this ensemble together. Since the jeans are faded, I didn’t want to pair them with a black top. Looking back, I should have gone with a black sweater. I’m challenging myself to style these jeans again and hopefully come up with something fresh!
This outfit is a great example of making a choice and moving on with life. Sometimes we have to make quick decisions that don’t turn out amazing. On the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter what we’re wearing as long as it’s appropriate and keeping us warm, right?
So what these clothes are old. First. World. Problems.
Comment of the Day
Today’s comment comes from Robin:
I so enjoy your posts and love your style. I will be holding you up in prayer this weekend, and that God will speak through your husband and you to all who hear. Blessings, Robin
I love the personal comments and encouragement I hear from you all. Thank you so much for your prayers Robin. Our career ministry retreat was a success despite me spending the whole weekend in bed with the flu. This month of sickness (all five of us have been out sick) was not what I expected, but I’m thankful for the support of family and friends who took good care of us!

I actually love this look on you. It comes across as effortlessly chic or “cool girl.”

I’m so encouraged by your comment, Linda! I wasn’t sure how you all were going to like this outfit, but I wanted to stay true to practicing contentment and wearing what I have. As the days wear on, I find myself wanting to cheat and pick up a “little something”. This no shopping challenge is starting to stretch my self-control.
Nancy says
Oh I loved it all my life! I’m wearing it today on accessories on the blog!
Shannon says
Your rock leopard particularly well, Nancy! I need to head over and check out your accessory for today. Thank you for getting back to me. Hope you’re week is off to a great start.

Personally I never was a big fan of leopard prints (or any animal prints in general) but it looks nice on others and you look great in this outfit. Love how you added the deep red bag for a pop of color!
Shannon says
I love this honest opinion. Just because a print is a trend, doesn’t mean we have to adopt it. Knowing how to edit is essential in creating personal style. Thank you for sharing Elli!

It’s almost warm enough to wear my snakeskin shoes! You’re rocking that coat. I love how you pair it with neutrals.
Shannon says
I do love those snake skin loafers. So far those are the only piece I’ve seen in that print that I think would work for my wardrobe. You do have the best shoe collection!
Melissa says
Animal print is so popular right now! I have a few leopard print tops.
Shannon says
So far I have a leopard scarf from a thrift store a couple years ago, my leopard coat and a belt. I haven’t delved into the leopard printed tops yet, but I think here are cute options from Amazon for this fall/winter!

Your coat is fabulous! Your daughter’s comment about wearing it is precious! I love this outfit and think the neutral sweater looks great with those jeans! Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you, Jill. My daughter is the sweetest. We used to have matching leopard flats but she grew out of them and I wore mine out. It was so fun to twin with our shoes.
Bita says
I love snakeskin shoes but I could not find an affordable comfortable shoes with low heels; they are all mostly uncomfortable high heels.
Shannon says
I hear your pain. I can’t find a cute pair either. Maybe next fall you’ll score the perfect low heels shoes.
