Inverted Triangle Shape Mini Capsule
Capsule Wardrobe Series
The inverted triangle figure features the best legs of all. A robust upper half is akin to the strong arms of the Proverbs 31 Lady. Your dress will fare better when tops are simple and unfussy with clean lines, saving the lower half for full skirts, frills, fun prints, and colors.
Tops: Generally, it’s better to go dark on top and lighter on the bottom. A light-colored shell with a dark cardigan or blazer works as well. Best necklines for this figure are narrow or deep v-necks, cowl or draped tops, and wrap style blouses. Shirts with nipped-in waists, dropped waists, or waists with banding look fabulous.
To emphasize curves, cinch in at the waist and flare over the hips. Wide pockets and horizontal details add the same effect. (Notice the drop pockets of the black cardigan above.) Also, look for shirts with vertical details to elongate the torso.
Deep shawl-collared or lightly cowled tops in dark colors with a light shell underneath look stunning. The ideal jacket or blazer is a deep V-neck with a nipped-in waist and flared bottom or hip pocket details.
Bottoms: Lighter colors will balance the hips and emphasizes curves. Skinny, wide legs, flares, and bootcut all look fantastic on this figure. Seek pants with whiskering and embellished or flap style pockets. Relish the days when cargo style pants are in style. A-line, ballerina style, pleats, and full skirts showcase your beautiful legs. Experiment with length, patterns, and colors.
Cover your basics: Here’s a suggested capsule wardrobe shopping list: 4-8 tops, 2-3 jeans, 1- 2 pairs of trousers, 1-2 skirts or shorts, 1-2 dresses or tunics. 2-3 cardigans, 2-3 sweaters, 1 vest or sleeveless cardigan, 1-3 blazers/coats. Shoes: 2-3 flats, 1-3 heels, 1-3 boots. (A capsule wardrobe does not include athletic or loungewear.)
