Navy V-Neck Sweater plus White Jeans.
My friend Rebecca recently asked me if I buy a whole new wardrobe each season or bring back items from last year. I bring it back baby!! My seasonal capsule wardrobes have most of the major basics. I just update worn out garments and work on my “wish list” investment items.
I love exploring ways to mix old and new – wearing old clothes with current trends. Try revamping old classics by mixing them with a hot trend like white wide leg or flare pants.
Today’s post is a great example. The navy and white combination never goes out of style. This sweater is from Gap Outlet 2013. I didn’t wear it last year, so it feels brand new. Pairing it with the “of the moment” white jeans gives me a fresh, classic look. (I also love this outfit with leopard flats, or my grey booties).
This month I’ve been wearing the simple, sweater and jeans combo a lot. It’s easy, practical, and chic comfort. In this case, the shoes make the outfit. It’s the fine details of a sleek open toed bootie, or the criss-cross lines of lace up flats that make jeans and a sweater look “stylish”- not to mention a smart looking bag, the cheekier the better.
Every spring and winter, navy sweaters roll out. Each year it’s a different shade; this year “Snorkel Blue” is hot. But when the “it” navy happens to be the shade that makes your skin glow…it’s worth the extra cash to invest in a cut that makes you look and feel fabulous. Good quality cashmere won’t disappoint.
You really only need a couple of well chosen trendy pieces each season to “revamp” if you have all your basics. A pair of jeans, a sweater, shoes, handbag, or scarf in the “of the moment” color or cut if it suits you, can transform a capsule wardrobe and make it feel “new”.
