I LOVE LOVE LOVE the lace up shoe trend that’s hitting the stores. These are my new favs I found at DSW. They were a $10 steal (with my $10 coupon). I haven’t worn black flats for almost 5 years so I’m thrilled to have an updated pair in my closet.
Black ankle tie flats are the quintessential gamine shoe. As a petite, ankle ties need to be treated with caution because they can make your legs look stumpy. For a shortie like myself, they look good with long slim pants (of the same color), or an above the knee skirt/dress.
I usually like to match the color of my shoes to pants or tights for a leg lengthening effect, but these black flats perfectly complete the outfit. They are so comfy and I wear them a lot to jazz up plain jeans and a tee shirt or sweater-my “go to” comfy mom clothes.
I tend to live by the “CBS” rule: All you really need is basics and a good coat, bag, or shoe to be stylish. If anything, invest in these, and you can wear anything else. Case in point: black tank and white jeans (also styled here).
Last year I built up my spring capsule so I don’t have much to shop for. I didn’t however, buy many shoes. So I need to update my shoes and replace some 4 year old sandals that I superglued together last year. I’m also looking for a good spring jacket to complete my set of three: trench coat, navy knit blazer, and ______.” Have any suggestions?
