COMFY CHIC DAY DRESS – When it’s warm, my favorite thing to wear is a stretchy knit day dress – in stripes of course! I knew I loved this dress as soon as I pulled it out of my Stitch Fix box. I love the ruching on the waist – it hides a little extra dinner and creates such a pretty feminine line. I’m itching for fall fashion, so I added this airy scarf in plaid. The print mix combo is preppy meets classic, which is just my style! As I’ve mentioned before, all you need to look stylish is a good ladylike handbag and a great pair of pumps (and coat) and you’re set.
I practice what I preach … I’ve styled this handbag and shoes quite a bit this summer. For summer, swap out the coat for a breezy scarf. I’ve put together 3 effortless chic day dress looks for you below. Scroll through to see all three complete outfits.

COMMENT OF THE WEEK:
“I have just discovered your blog and love it!! Parisian chic is timeless. Your look would be a hit here in Montreal. If anything should be added to your list, it would be a pair of sunglasses, because French women always seem to have a pair on hand.“ DONNA
Donna, you’re so right! Every woman needs a good pair of sunglasses. I added it to the list on my post: Parisian Chic. Thank you so much for your kind comment!

Can you share information about that great handbag, please?
Shannon says
I wish I could! But I received it has a hand-me-down. I have no idea where it came from originally as it’s a knock off. 😉 xx-S

Such a cute dress! Love the ruching at the side!
Shannon says
The ruching is really great. I love how it gently covers over the tummy. 😉 xx-S
Emma says
Hi Shannon, this dress is stunning on you. I love the ruching too, as a Mum of two a bit of distraction from my not-so-washboard tummy is always welcome. I love the fact that your bag and shoes don’t match, but you pull it together by matching the colour of the bag and scarf and lipstick. Tres chic!
I can’t wait to wear ladylike bags, at the moment I can only do this when my two girls of 1 and 3 are in daycare, which is rare, as I’m a stay at home Mum. It’s rucksacks or changing bags for me, though lately I’ve been looking for a simple leather tote which could work. Did you wear chic clothes like you show on the blog when your kids were really young? How did you manage to look chic and be practical?
Shannon says
Hi Emma, I don’t use the ladylike bag for everyday…I have a tote for that. But if I’m going out sans kids for a brunch or dinner date, then I bust it out. 😉 xx-S

I love the look of the stripe and plaid! Never would have thought!! I know you explained how you did the infinity scarf in your email today but I’m more of a visual learner and couldn’t quite grasp the idea. Any chance you could make a quick YouTube to share with your readers?
Shannon says
That’s a great idea Linda, thanks! I will see what I can do. 😉 xx-S

I have never seen a more sophisticated and unique way to tie a little wispy plaid scarf. Love it. I am always a huge fan of a good striped dress, especially fitted ones. Your dress is great and the ruching makes it better Shannon. Last Fall I did a favorite transitional Striped Dress+Plaid Shirt look which I loved. Now, I am trying this out. You inspire me!
Nice catching up with you a little bit, today. Come join my recent Thursday Moda linkup and share your gorgeous style with my readers, pretty lady! I miss you on the linkup. Thanks.
