This week, I saw an interview of a super stylish and polished woman in her 70s in Beverly Hills. She said some of her favorite pieces were 10+ years old! The key, she said, was to buy the things you love and then take great care of them.
I couldn’t agree more.
I prefer a minimalistic approach to style and use the 3×3 Capsule Wardrobe Method which focuses on curating a smaller amount of versatile pieces you can mix and match. I like to keep all of my current seasonal pieces front and center inside my closet.
Watch the video to see how I organize my seasonal items on a 2.5 foot rod inside my closet. The rest goes into storage either under my bed or the coat closet.
When it comes to looking polished, part of the battle is maintaining your hero pieces as they start to show wear. I’ve included tools I keep in my closet and stylist bag to elevate my clients wardrobe and get them looking chic and put together on the spot.
- Hangers: Slim velvet hangers not only save space, but also prevent slippage, ensuring your delicate garments stay perfectly in place. Plus, the scarf and belt hangers help keep your accessories easily accessible and tangle-free.
- Moleskin Padding, Fashion Tape, and Clear Hair Ties: Moleskin padding is a great way to add a layer of protection for your feet so your shoes feel comfortable. Fashion tape comes in handy with outfit adjustments. And clear hair ties are a discreet extra loop for belts that are too long.
- Lint Roller: Keep your clothes looking lint-and-hair free and with this handy tool. I highly recommend this if you have pets!
- Sweater Shaver: If you wear sweaters and knits, you will LOVE this magical gadget. Get rid of pilling to make a tired sweater looking fresh again in one or two passes.
- Leather Hole Punch and Watch Adjuster Tools: My leather hole punch is so handy that I take it to all my personal styling sessions. It’s great for shortening purse straps or creating new belt holes to adjust to your height and size. And for those with dainty wrists, the watch adjuster ensures your timepieces fits just right without having to go to a jeweler.
- Suede Brush: Keep your suede shoes looking tidy with this essential brush. Your outfit might be a 10, but if your shoes look unkempt, it won’t have quite the same impact. Remember, little details matter!

OMG! Please explain how to use the poster adhesive on your white t-shirt. Do you spray the inside or outside of the t-shirt?
Shannon says
Yes, so I lightly spray on the inside and then stick lightly iron it so it dries. It’s great!
