TRIBAL PRINT – H&M is a Swedish international company known for carrying of the moment trends. When I popped in a couple weeks ago, tribal prints were all over the store. This maxi dress, positioned at the entry way, immediately caught my eye. As I was browsing, another shopper saw it hanging over my arm and asked me where I found it.Tribal Print Maxi Dress. Tribal Print Maxi Dress. Perfect dress for summer.The maxi dress has a beautiful long silhouette and trendy side slits. It’s very comfortable and great for summer. The material is light weight, so I recommend wearing it with a half slip. I like the decorative beading at the top and the high neckline. Great for average to smaller chested women. Those with a large bust might look better in a v-neck style.

I was able to get almost a complete outfit (maxi dress, straw tote, and cuff bracelet) for under $80.     Shannon, this looks lovely in you. I think the dress is great with your black hair. Not sure if, as a blonde, and fair skinned, I could carry it off? I like your tip about the slip underneath. That has never occurred to me, but it would help hugely with thin fabrics and cheaper brands like HnM (I like their stuff but often find it looks bad quality on me, but I’ve never tried a slip!) loving the bag and bracelet too.
    About your jewellery, I see you’re mixing metals. Is that done more now? I was always told (by my mum, who is actually quite stylish) that I had to stick to one metal or do everything two toned, including the hardware on bags etc. My wedding band and engagement ring are gold, so I felt limited in terms of other items. But I totally fell for a pendant with silver and rose tone on it two days ago. So I guess it looks OK to wear it with gold rings? Would be interested in your view … Have a lovely weekend!

      Emma, I completely agree with you on the quality of H&M. You do need to look at the quality before you purchase something from there. It seems like many of their fabrics are thin, (at least for spring and summer) but I have quite a few slips so that’s how I make it work for me. 😉

      I love to mix my metals! I find having one two-toned piece, like a watch, makes the look more “pulled together”. I did a post on how to mix metals that might help.

      My personal advice on fashion rules is: wear what you love and what looks flattering and tasteful on you. Trash the trend or the “rule” if it doesn’t work for you. 🙂 Mix those metals to your heart’s content. It seems like there aren’t any steadfast rules anymore, just new creative ways of wearing our old favorites. 🙂

    Shannon, when I was in Europe I shopped at H&M a lot. I need to go to my local H&M store soon. I love the maxi dress and tote bag so much and cute sandals. I love how the neckline of the dress looks like a statement bib necklace.
