Call me old-fashioned, but I still love to dress up on Sunday for church. When I was growing up, jeans were NOT an option. We always wore dresses or skirts (girls) or chinos with a collared shirt (boys). Needless to say I’ve held to that tradition with my own kids. You can definitely make jeans look dressy, but for me, there is something I love about not wearing denim on Sunday. Here is an outfit I wore a couple of weekends ago. This red pencil skirt from Uniqlo sure is fun!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my New Women’s Maris Wedge Sandal in Light Tan from Vionic. (Purchased on Amazon with free shipping, free returns.) I highly recommend them as I tried on 4 pairs of similar shoes and these were the most comfortable.
They feature a cushioning technology that sets them apart from other wedge espadrilles offering more support than the typical canvas versions. Constructed with a suede upper, they’re also available in a wide width, which is hard to come by. Darling with summer dresses, capris & shorts I love the traditional ankle ties – so feminine. I’d love a pair in black, but I’m on a tight budget this summer. These were definitely an investment for me.
I pulled out my red striped Breton top from Boden from 3 summers ago. It’s a classic boatneck style that comes back every season in new colors. It’s currently on sale for $24!
I’ve been impressed with the quality of Boden pieces. Their styles and quality are similar to JCrew (not JCrew Factory). This Breton top is 100% soft cotton jersey, easy to wear, and machine washable. Just makes sure to line dry it because it WILL SHRINK. Customer service is top notch. I shrunk a tee shirt and they replaced it for me.
I also adore this budget straw circle bag from Target. A great accessory to welcome in summer, this little piece adds a little sunshine to your warm-weather outfits. This style is selling out everywhere. Shop more straw circle bags at GAP| Urban Outfitters| Sole Society| Urban Outfitters | Macy’s INC| Cost Plus World Market

After church, I usually slip into a comfy pair of broken in jeans. These are my 4 year-old Madewell slim boyjean. I cropped to get the straight leg style that has been increasingly popular.
I’m also styling my go-to Open-Toe Huarache Flats from Target last year — only ($24.99). I call them the Target Mom shoes because several other school moms I see regularly wear these to pick up and drop off. One of my friends recently updated hers with this year’s version so we don’t have the exact same shoes anymore. They have a cute stitched design and go with everything and I mean everything! Super cute with skinny jeans and dresses, they are my go-to sandals for adding a little texture and dimension to my spring and summer outfits.

I remember how my parents would make me wear my Sunday best when going to mass, and that definition never once included neither jeans nor anything sleeveless 😛 as a parent, I’ve adopted a more relaxed approach with my own children but to their credit, never once have they put on anything remotely shabby nor revealing to church so major phew here 🙂
