Summer Espadrille Sandals
Welcome to the weekend! Today wraps up the mini-series Melissa and I have been doing on styling our espadrille sandals which are always “in” for summer. Originating in Spain, women from all countries have enjoyed the look of this iconic style characterized by a canvas upper and the plaited fiber sole.
Espadrille comes from the word “espardenya”, in reference to esparto grass, a plant indigenous southern Spain which is used to make ropes and basketry.

TOP OLD NAVY |SKIRT H&M | SANDALS TARGET | BRACELETS TARGET | PURSE SIMILAR |
I chose a floral skirt to anchor this outfit. It’s no longer in stock at H&M, but they have a great selection to choose from for a seasonal update that won’t break the bank. The circle purse, SIMILAR is a great complement to the shoes providing a repeated texture that pulls the look together.
I get a lot of compliments on this Old Navy tank, (currently on sale for $20!). The tie and button details create a focal point for the outfit. It also has a subtle texture which adds visual interest. It’s a “crop top”, but it’s a “longer cropped fit” and can sit lower than a typical cropped fit depending on how tight you tie the front. I have a short torso so it works fine on me. (If you’re long-waisted and busty it will definitely hit at a shorter cropped length.) This is a great top if you are loving the high waisted styles for pants or shorts.
I’ve also included delicate beaded bangles from Target along with a pretty multi-colored stone necklace to reflect the playful colors of the skirt. I’ve had my Target bangles for several weeks and they are already falling apart. I was surprised because their jewelry usually lasts a full season or two! Will someone please share where you can find some good quality bangles that are budget-friendly?

Comment of the Day
Today’s comment comes from my sweet friend, Hope, on the post Styling Espadrille Sandals: Outfit 2
Love the picture of you and Chelsea!
Thanks, Hope! One day we all need to get together and meet for lunch!
The fun back story on this is that Chelsea, my fellow stylist, Hope, and I are all connected through growing up together in the same part of California but have only recently met. Hope’s mom knows Chelsea’s sister who is a talented interior designer and Chelsea has spoken at the MOPs group that Hope’s mom, serves at! How cool is that?
