This is my favorite dress from LOFT (spring 2015). I wore it once a week for 6 months and was sad to pack it away last September. It’s a swing dress that came with a matching tie belt. I couldn’t wait to pull it out again when the weather started getting warm.
This swing dress is made out of a stretchy knit material and is so comfortable. I appreciate the high neckline and the longer length compared to most dresses; it comes down almost to the knee. (If you’re more busty, a midline cut like a v-neck or scoop neck works better.) I had to slightly alter this dress because the armholes were too big.
I usually don’t style it with a necklace because I think the stripes would look too busy on my petite frame. The belt adds just the right amount of visual interest to keep it from being too plain. ( The belt was recently styled with a maxi skirt.) I add hits of bling with bracelets or my rockstud sandals.
I find A-line skirts and dresses to be the best cut for my pear figure. However, if they flare too much they make my hips look extra wide. This swing dress has just enough flare to feel swirly and feminine, but still minimize my hips.
I love wearing dresses in spring and summer because they make getting dressed so easy. Throw on one thing and you’re 90% dressed in 5 seconds! No need to “coordinate” a top and bottom. Add shoes and you are literally ready to run out the door!
