Good Skincare Health
Can you believe spring is here? With just a few improvements to your skincare routine, you can make your skin healthier and happier!
Do keep your skincare routine simple. Korean skincare has been all the rage over the past few years, and for good reason, but you don’t need to follow a 10-step Korean skincare regime. Instead, pick a few items that target your particular skin type and that you can realistically keep up daily. Start with a double cleanse and moisturizer. And if you can add one more step, try a serum or a toner too.
Don’t over exfoliate. Exfoliation is a big buzzword in skincare, but it’s easy to overdo it and irritate your skin. Skin irritation can cause inflammation and damage to your skin. If you’re a skincare newbie, stick to a gentle chemical exfoliator (such as glycolic or lactic acids) and limit your use to once or twice a week.
Drugstore: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, Pixi Glow Tonic, Neogen Circa Pads, Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads
Mid-to High End: Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel, Kate Somerville Exfoli Kate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment
Do double cleanse. If you can’t be bothered with skincare, at the very least incorporate this into your daily nighttime routine. What is a double cleanse? It’s cleansing your face and neck first with a dedicated makeup remover followed by a very mild cleanser. Nothing ages your skin more than sleeping with makeup and/or sunscreen on. Clean skin is happy skin.
Drugstore: Burts Bees Facial Cleansing Oil, Faceshop Rice Water Cleansing Oil, Physicians Formula The Perfect Matcha 3-in-1 Melting Cleansing Balm
Mid-to High: Heimish All Clean Balm, DHC Oil Cleanser, Clinique Take the Day Off, Elemis Pro Cleansing Balm, Shu Uemera Cleansing Oils
Don’t use cleansing wipes. I get it. Those Neutrogena Cleansing Wipes are so convenient. But no matter how gentle you are, you’ll likely tug or pull at skin. And what does that lead to? Wrinkles, saggy skin, and enlarged pores. Take two extra minutes to use an oil or balm cleanser and it will make a world of difference. I promise.
And finally, do apply sunscreen every day. Apply a sunscreen that is at the bare minimum SPF 15 and broad spectrum everyday to your face, neck and ears. Dermatologists recommend applying at least 3/4 of a teaspoon and reapplying every two hours. Sun damage is one of the greatest factors in aging skin and it’s much easier to prevent it than it is to treat it.
Drugstore: Cotz Sunscreens, Australian Gold Sunscreens
Mid-to high: La Roche Posay Sunscreens, Elta MD Sunscreens, SkinCeuticals Sunscreens
Asian: Krave Beauty Beet the Sun, Purito Green Level Safe Sun, Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence
Making these simple changes can make a big difference over time. I hope 2020 is a year of great skin for you!

Comment of the Day
Today’s comment comes from Ruth of voguefauxreal.com on the post How To Wear Your Favorite Plaid Shirt: Part 3
I love this look and I actually can recreate it (similar, anyway) from my closet! I don’t think I’ve ever worn my plaid shirts with my flare jeans or my beige boots and I’m going to give it a try because it looks so stylish on you! I have a very similar coat but it’s red and I think I can work that one into the set. Thank you so much for this wonderful style inspiration!
Thank you for popping in Ruth. I always love hearing from you and thrilled I was able to inspire you!

How fun to see my comment listed as a favorite, Shannon! I love the idea of a style consultation and I’m going to have a look through my closet and see what I can find for you to help me style – thank you so much for that and for the capsule wardrobe checklist! This is a great post. I’m the worst about cleaning my face with the wipes but I’ve noticed that my eyelid area is not happy with being wiped and I need to switch to something that doesn’t involve tugging and wiping. Thank you so much for the tips!
