Calling all Yoga Pants Mommys! Yes, You! Are you a member of the Mom Uniform Club where the hazing begins right after you give birth (or adopt) and afterwards wear the same sleek black pants every day with a different colored active wear top?
Quite frankly, sometimes at school drop off I feel like I’m having a deja vu of my USC days in the late 90s when the flock of gorgeous pledgers were passing by on their beach cruisers with their different pastel colored spaghetti strap tanks and white short shorts. Instead of short shorts, the long flowy haired blondes are now wearing black LuLuLemon pants and their perfectly highlights are now pulled back in a pony!
Ok, so maybe you don’t have perfect highlights because that cash flow went to the double stroller, but you’re in the yoga pants club. Let’s be honest. We all know the reason we wear those pants every day. We don’t have time to get dressed like we used to, and frankly those black pants make whatever happened to your body after birthing our sweet precious babies look almost like it used to! And we always feel better and a little more confident to face the outside world, right?!? At least for me it does.
Mommy, whether you brought a child into the world or adopted one, you are beautiful! Your sacrifice – be it through pregnancy, or in the daily rigors of child raising and caring – is life-giving and life-sustaining. This is the most important job in the WORLD! You are the First Lady of your household, and I want to inspire you to dress the part. It doesn’t have to be hard, complicated, or time consuming.
One simple change is to ditch those yoga pants for when you actually exercise or go to the park. Instead try a pair of ponte pants, or at least stretchy, slimming, dark pants with back pockets. Better yet, wear back pockets and a front zipper! I found mine at Costco! Matty M for $12. They are just as comfortable and can be just as slimming if you find the right pair.
Sometime we need a little push, a little motivation, or a little inspiration. Just for you, I’m going to post 4 different ways to style the same ponte pants and showcase a variety of looks.
I love these merlot ponte pants I bought from Costco. They add just enough color to be interesting, yet slim down the lower half. You can easily pair colored pants with a neutral top and layer with a vest for a chic polish. A striped shirt with a vest is also an easy combo. When combining with a colored pants, black and white is usually a safe option.
My daughter will be modeling her jeggings. They are the most versatile pants for a toddler wardrobe. Easy to pull on by herself, they also match all her tops. She prefers these over jeans because they are super stretchy for the running, jumping, playing lifestyle of a four year old. I put her in a pink sequined top with a white jean jacket. It was drizzling outside, so we grabbed her rain boots. The girl loves her boots!

I found your blog thanks http://www.Startamomblog.com and im loving it! I cant remember the last time i actually took time and money to work on my wordrobe. Probably somewhere after i left my professional job for full time mommy hood.
I am so encouraged by your words above. I have fallen into a uniform, jeans and sweatshirt with my favorite ball cap. Its my go to outfit. Your ideas seem so simple I feel confident enough to actually try to work on it. Ive heard of the capsule wardrobe idea and loved it but the source lacked direction on how to actually do it. Thanks for all the work you are putting into this blog for mommies like me!

Thank you! I love Suzi’s Start A Mom Blog network! Baseball caps are trending right now. Target has some cute affordable options. I recently purchased a camo style one from them for $14 and my husband loves it. Sneakers are also trending. Jean at extrapetite.com has a good example on her blog right now. These are two super mommy friendly trends I want to post about in the future. Clicking over to check out your site! Thanks for stopping by and hope to hear from you again soon. 😉
