Outfit #10 of the Winter Outfits Challenge
Have you ever texed: “Help, I don’t know what to wear!” In my case it was:
Shannon: “I need outfit ideas for my blog…with clothes I have! Send me ideas!!!!”
Stacey: “Ugh I have the same problem! I always want to buy more. My new thing is hair accessories. If you want to send options I can help!”
Shannon: “What fun cheap way to update your look! (Thinking: “I wish I had enough hair to wear a hair clip. Am I too old for a hair clip?“) I’m on a shopping fast till mid-Feb… I’ve hit a wall…I must not have enough variety in my closet.”
Stacey: Hmmm what are you trying to style?
Shannon: Anything…thinking my navy & forest green plaid top to start? I really need to make a capsule for spring so I don’t get stuck like this again! Lol.
Stacey: Lol! Can you do the plaid with a vest!!!?
Shannon: With my white puffer?
Stacey: Ooo…and tennis shoes.
And here we are.

Is your closet feeling stale? My solution is to pick a favorite piece and find 3 new ways to wear it. Try something out of your comfort zone like adding a bright lipstick color or wearing it with a different pair of kicks than you typically grab.
Today starts the mini-series on 3 ways you can wear your favorite plaid top. I’ve got two more ideas headed your direction!
Comment of the Day
Today’s comment comes from Linda on the post Leopard Coat + Flare Jeans:
I actually love this look on you. It comes across as effortlessly chic or “cool girl.”
Your feedback warms my heart, Linda! I wasn’t in love or confident about how people would respond to my leopard coat outfit. I’m also thrilled you’ve zoned in on the vibe I’m going for, “effortless chic.” Not only that but being labeled as a “cool girl” a HUGE compliment. Thanks for making my day!

This is a staple outfit formula I think. Every year the plaid print changes, but I always gravitate towards classic colors like navy and hunter green. 🙂

This is uber cute. I am a plaid lover from way back, and this one is a classic. Looks like a great pulled-together-but-not-trying-too-hard outfit that would work for grocery shopping, flea marketing, trips with the kids, etc. Perfect! 🙂

You nailed it! Plaid shirts are great for various casual events. I’ve even seen fitted plaid tops styled for a party with a skirt, heels, and statement necklace. Glenda, I’d love to know where you buy your plaid tops and if you have a favorite designer.

White sneakers are CLUTCH this season. They also transition perfectly into spring – or any season for that matter.

Great look, Shannon! Always classic with a plaid shirt, puffer vest, and sneakers! I also love plaid shirts paired with a short skirt and tights, left open over a graphic tee, layered under a printed sweater, or simply tied around the waist as an accessory. I look forward to the other ways you have found to style this cute top!
