I love the “Le no makeup” look. I’m so glad the heavy, flawless, airbrushed look is out and healthy, luminous, fresh looking skin is in! Let your skin breathe. If you can’t see it, you’re wearing too much, says long time Glamour Magazine beauty editor, Andrea Pomerantz Lustig. Less is more. Focus on highlighting your assets rather than covering your flaws.
She advises doing your eye makeup first. Pro makeup artists start with the eyes. If you accidentally smear mascara or make a mistake with liner or shadow, it’s easier to take off if you haven’t put the rest of your makeup on yet. Once you’ve done up your eyes, you may not notice your flaws and will need less makeup to cover them up.
Here’s what’s in my “le no makeup” bag:

As crazy as it sounds, it’s true. Even though I’m getting close to 40, I still get break outs if I haven’t eaten healthy. The other night, I was meeting up with friends for a Bible study, and there was one huge pimple I had to do an extraction on before we got there. I thought it was an obvious huge red splotch on my chin.
Somehow the subject came up in conversation and my friend Heather said, “What? I didn’t see it?!?” I don’t know how she could have missed it. LOL. I’m not saying your blemishes become invisible if you do an amazing job on your eye makeup, I’m just saying they are less noticeable if your eyes are done up and you’re smiling.
My ultimate favorite mascara is this Elizabeth Mott’s It’s So Big! I just have to rave about it and let you know: It’s the best one I’ve tried. I’ve been wearing it for almost a year, and it has NEVER smeared and hardly ever flakes. (Unless you sleep with it head faced down in a pillow- you will get a couple of flakes.) The price has gone down from $20 to $15 currently on Amazon.
Mascara is the one thing, second to sunblock, I never leave the house without wearing. I don’t like to spend more than $10 on mascara, but last year I read through the 2,923 four star reviews and decided to splurge and spend the extra $10 to try it. It was worth every extra penny. I was SO thrilled to see the price had gone down to $15!
My everyday makeup routine is pretty simple. I have gone back to using my Skin Ceuticals Physical Fusion Defense tinted sunblock, because it is a light, high quality sunblock with great customer satisfaction (362, four star reviews). It feels fresh and luminous for spring. Plus, I just leaned that matte tends to set into your fine lines and wrinkles. Ick!
Then I dab a tiny bit of Urban Decay eyeshadow primer on the bottom half of my eyelid to keep my liner in place, draw a wing-tipped upper lid line gamine style, add mascara, and fill in my brows with my new Ulta Brow Tint.
I hardly wear blush, but I keep lip gloss in my mini van (yep, that’s how I roll) and apply that while I close the garage door before backing my car out of the driveway.

Shannon,
I also like a lighter look for my makeup. For a foundation, I either use CoverGirl’s TruBlend or BB Cream. They are inexpensive and have shades that match my light skin tone perfectly! ~Melissa

I love how makeup is becoming a lot less dramatic now hehe. I’ll need to look into this mascara as well. I’d love to know your full skincare routine since you have amazing skin btw!

Hi Stacey, I did a post on my skin care routine a couple weeks ago it’s called 4 Fab Beauty Products starting at $4. https://gaminestripes.com/2016/03/25/4-fabulous-beauty-products-starting-at-4-00/
It’s pretty simple. The best advice I have is to use jojoba oil! I massage it into my skin before I wash it. I also just started using aquaphor on my eye area where the fine lines are and on my lips. When I wake up in the morning, everything is so soft and moisturized instead of dry! You also have amazing skin!! Lucky Asian thing? xx-S

I love to wear light makeup, but prefer nude or lips is my choice.
