SIMPLE CHIC TANK DRESS – Sometimes the simple outfits are the best outfits. I never get tired of wearing classic colors like navy or white. This red handbag (a hand me down knock off) is a classic style that has endured past every “it” bag. I just love the look of it and always get compliments on it. See it styled previously here. AÂ good size handbag is the length between your wrist and elbow. Read my 10 tips to mastering the simple chic style below.

Stylist Notes: Mastering The Simple Chic Look
- Get the best haircut you can afford. Sometimes that’s all you need to refresh your look and feel amazing.
- Wear a hairstyle that makes you look and feel beautiful despite what you see on magazine covers and blogs.
- Style isn’t about having every hair in place and being dressed to a “T”; rather, it’s being comfortable in your own skin and threads.
- To build your style, incorporate the “CBS” rule: All you really need is a good Coat, Bag and Shoes.
- Invest in year round, neutral classic items like a leather purse and good pumps (nude and black).
- You do not need to wear designer labels to be stylish or have style.
- Skip trends that don’t work for you.
- A true woman of style can find something in ANY store, Kmart or Neiman Marcus.
- Dress according to your own taste, not just what you see in magazines or blogs.
- Ultimately wear what is comfortable and what looks good on you, not the model on the magazine cover.
COMMENT OF THE WEEK:
“That is a gorgeous boho top and I really like your pleated skirt too – they both pair together nicely.
I was scrolling through the pictures thinking I had a very similar hat, then I saw the closeup picture and I’m positive it’s the very same hat, haha! Although it’s winter here and it’s stuffed at the back of my wardrobe I do wear it a lot in summer – it’s a definite summer essential!” MICA
Thank you, Mica! It’s so fun to see things other bloggers style what we already have in our own closet!

Shannon, this is such a beautiful classic and timeless look! You are so right about finding style that suits you and it doesn’t have to break the bank. Recently, I have been getting into thrifting more and I am finding some fabulous items in my local Salvation Army for next to nothing. And it’s so much fun to dig through the racks and search for those hidden gems!
Thanks for linking up with me On the Edge of the Week. I hope to see you again next week. Have a fabulous weekend!

Love that dress on you and agree with you on that simple chic look. Having just returned from Paris, I can tell you that that style is the trend there. The women in France dress so simply but classic chic and they always look great.
Shannon says
Paris? Absolutely jealous. Please tell me more!! xx-S

It was just a few days at the end of our family trip, but I’m glad we were able to go there. I’m working on a post about the fashion, but the women look so put together. I would describe them as chic, classic and yet the look is so simple. Basic pieces, but good quality. I saw a lot of dark jeans in a cigarette style, ballet flats, white top, scarf, blazer or cardigan. Your dress would have fit in perfectly!
Shannon says
Wow, that is TOTALLY my style. I can’t wait to read your post. Please let me know when you get it up!! xx-S

I looove this dress Shannon. And your style tips are amazing! Especially agree with needing the freedom to “skip” trends that don’t work for you! One which definitely DOES NOT work with me is patchwork on clothes and purses. Lol
Shannon says
Thanks Corina! It was good to hear from you! xx-S

I love tip 8! So, so, so true. Another thing I am learning is to take care of my items. I starting buying nice pumps (tip 5) and I keep them in the boxes instead of just throwing them in with the rest of my shoe drawer.
Love your chic look!

Thanks for stopping by Kristin. I do have some of my shoes in boxes, but that’s because I ran out of shelf room. I didn’t think to keep them in there for protection. Great tip!! xx-S
