Outfit #11 of the Winter Outfit Challenge
Do you purchase the same things over & over? It’s essential to know what works best for you, but to keep your style from feeling stale, diversity is the key. For winter, there are 3 types of sweaters you should have in your closet.
- One neutral colored sweater.
- One colored sweater.
- One textured or printed sweater in a neutral or complementary color to your “colored” sweater.
This principle also applies to cardigans. With these 6 pieces, (3 sweaters + 3 cardigans) you’ll be covered and cozy!
PLAID SHIRT WITH A TEXTURED SWEATER & JEANS
For my second plaid shirt outfit, I knew I wanted to style it with a sweater and my two choices were a classic navy v-neck cashmere or a textured sweater. I picked this one because I love winter white. It feels bright & fresh on a rainy day. See this sweater styled with over the knee boots.
The mini-dome purse pulled this outfit together for me. I spotted a display of chic dome purses at Target this week that would be great for adding polish to your outfits year-round! I love the classic “Kate Spade” feel that elevates a relaxed look to “casual chic.”

Comment of the Day
Today’s comment comes from Glenda on the post How To Wear Your Favorite Plaid Top 3 New Ways: Part 1
This is uber cute. I am a plaid lover from way back, and this one is a classic. Looks like a great pulled-together-but-not-trying-too-hard outfit that would work for grocery shopping, flea marketing, trips with the kids, etc. Perfect! 🙂
You nailed it, Glenda. I love all these ideas on where to wear this outfit. I’ve also seen fitted plaid tops styled for a party with a skirt, heels, and statement necklace. There are so many ways you can style this shirt!

I love the fun pom pom knit you layered over the shirt! It’s a fun and cosy way to layer a shirt for cooler weather. It rarely gets cold enough for me to need long sleeves under a knit here though in Brisbane sadly!
Hope that your week is going well and you have a nice weekend ahead of you 🙂

I had no idea Brisbane was so warm. What is the average temperature for February? We’ve been experiencing a warm winter this year – high 50’s F. So far a coat over a sweater in the morning/evening and just a sweater during the day is just right here in the San Fran Bay Area. Have a wonderful weekend!

The plaid shirt is so cute and gives a bit of color and interest to that neutral sweater. I love the little pom poms on the sweater, too!

I adore the little pom pom detail on the sweater too. I hear polka dots are on trend for spring so I’m ready!
