Outfit #2 Winter Outfits Challenge
Welcome! We are on Outfit #2 of my Winter Outfits Challenge – Cultivating Closet Contentment. I’m challenging myself to stop shopping for 30 days and post 30 outfits from pieces I currently own.
Jumpers have been rising in popularity these last 2 years. (I had a ton of requests for jumpers during spring and summer as a stylist!) I spotted this little chambray number at Target last spring on a mannequin styled with a v-neck striped tee and knew immediately she was meant for me! It was a good investment because I wear it year-round.
Today, I’m styling this summer jumper with a thrifted vintage handbag, my Silent D slouchy boots, and a pretty lace trim top from Boden, a birthday gift from my friend, Alyssa, several years back. I always get compliments every time I wear it. See links below to shop Boden lace tops on sale. This pretty top is a french style staple! I put this outfit together inspired by this post on Instagram by french blogger Marina. I am obsessed with her style and her feed!

Today’s comment is from Laura at idodeclaire.com:
Shopping your closet is such a great idea. It’s easy to get used to buying things, but so often we have great items in our closet already! Your outfit demonstrates that perfectly! You look fabulous and so put together!
Thank you, Laura. I’m taking these 30 days to learn a new habit: loving and appreciating what I have by stretching my creativity and finding fresh ways to wear these “old” pieces. Shopping can feel like a good solution for feeling great about your closet. I want to learn to really evaluate my motivations for shopping and get smarter about spending and saving.
I can’t wait to hear what “summer pieces” YOU are wearing this winter. Please share!

Thank you, Laura. I adore feminine details like a little ruffle here or there. The outfit on your lastest post was darling. I loved the hit of pink that pulled it all together.

I love summer! It’s a long ways away though. Right now I’m just enjoying the fun fall/winter fashions.

What a great way to put a cute jumper to work all year! I don’t even have one to work with yet (I do look at all of them when I pass them in Target – just need to take the time to try them on!) but you’ve given me an idea for another outfit I have that would look great shortened a bit and worn with slouch boots! I love the idea from shopping from one’s closet and I’m going to be going through mine this year and looking at wearing everything differently than I have been (and finding those things I don’t even remember I have). That blouse is darling on you! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, Ruth. Chambray makes a great year-round fabric. I love the idea of shortening an old piece and wearing it with slouch boots. It’s so fun to tailor/alter an old piece and make it new. That’s a great trick to saving money plus you get bragging rights for “designing” a new piece in your closet. Have a wonderful weekend.

I try to get the most wear out of everything in my closet too and winterize my summer pieces. That jumpsuit is darling and so versatile! I love how you styled it for winter!

So cute, Shannon! I have a worn a few summer dresses this way for the colder weather with layers underneath so you don’t lose the cuteness of the summer piece. Such a great styling trick to get more wear out of your wardrobe!

I love finding pieces that you can wear year-round. I think I’ve worn it more in colder months than in summer!

You pulled this off so well and I love that white top you paired with the denim and the tall boots work perfectly with the crop length!
