Last week, we had a great chat about 2024 spring/summer trends. Quiet lux, corporate corp, utility, and more! If you missed it, check out my post here. Today, let’s talk about trending colors for the season.
So . . .why color?
When you open up your closet, do you:
- See a wave of black, gray, tans, and whites?
- Feel bored with clothes and nothing lights you up or feels fun and exciting?
- Feel dull and washed out when you get dressed?
If you relate with any of the above it’s time to inject color into your closet! Adding color will instantly create fun, excitement and inspiration when you go to get dressed each morning.
As your go-to petite stylist, I picked out the latest hues that are all over the stores, as well as some great statement colors that will not only amp up your look, but leverage color psychology to help boost your mood and change how people see you.
1. Blue – Light Blue & Cobalt Blue
This is no surprise – everyone loves blue and there is a color for everyone. Light blue is especially popular this season, and has a great calming effect. We’re also seeing a lot of cobalt and turquoise blue. Cobalt blue provides a sense of empowerment and energy. And turquoise is a fabulous color for alertness and fostering creativity.
2. Pastels – Butter Yellow, Lilac & Pinks
If you’re a summer palette, and you need that softer hue, raise the roof because YOUR colors have landed in stores! Butter yellow is super popular for this season and adding yellow is a great color to give you that sense of cheerfulness. Lilac is great for self-reflection, spirituality and reflection. And soft pinks are great for injecting a sense of compassion and is considered a neutral color for your wardrobe.
3. Black
Black is back, especially the little black dress! Black gives a sense of authority and is very chic, so if you have an important business meeting this is a great color to wear. Look for linen and cotton – breezy fabrics – to keep cool in the spring/summer. Not everyone looks good in black, so if that’s you check out navy or sapphire.
4. Metallics – Liquid Gold & Silver
Metallics never really go out of style, but they’ve really been in the forefront the last few years. Metallics will help you feel elegant and glamourous. Add metallic accessories or accents – a little bit of shimmer and shine is a great way to put together a polished look. I personally love gold, but I know silver is coming into the spotlight in the fashion world. Style tip: if you have silver hair, silver flats are a GREAT option for you.
5. White – Bright Whites & Ecru
White dresses are VERY in this spring/summer. White adds so much luxury to your look and is foundational for the quiet luxe vibe. White can shift your mood to provide clarity and simplicity so if you need to get your mind or schedule in order, try wearing white.
6. Earth Tones – Khaki, Olive & Chocolate Brown
My autumn palettes, I have good news for you! I know you’ve often have a hard time in the spring/summer, but not this year. Earth tones were all over the runway, so pull out your desert colors! Brown is very grounding and supportive and dark green provides assurance and restoration.
7. Red – Burgundy, Cherry Red & Tomato Red
Red is still going strong, and is a great way to accent your outfits. And autumns, you can wear red too since burgundy colors are in this spring/summer. I. Love. Red. Red is such a great gamine color and it’s easy to play with. You can do a red belt, a fun jacket or a striped shirt. It has a lot of great energy and can give you courage for the coming day.

Please comment: What color do you love to wear to shift your mood?
If you’re a midlife petite who is feeling overwhelmed with an overstuffed closet but have nothing exciting to wear. This is likely because:
- You constantly shop but the pieces you bring home don’t work with what’s in your closet and you just can’t figure out how to wear the cute new top or modern pants.
- Your body has changed after menopause and you’re too scared to buy anything because you don’t know what is flattering or age appropriate.
- You don’t know how to look put together in casual clothes because you’re used to an easy mix and match corporate wardrobe.
If any, or all ,of the above leaves you feeling unsettled and lost in your style I invite you to book a style strategy session with me.
