I’m wrapping up summer styles on the blog today by styling these high-rise shorts. Most of us have getting ready for the new school year top of mind. Besides getting the kids organized, next week is filled with appointments to help clients shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which opens to the public on the 19th.

I love today’s outfit because these green shorts (out of stock) can brighten up your day and easily pairs with fall pieces like leopard or zebra print for an autumn vibe keeping you cool in the September heat. You can also pair it with a tank and textured cardigan for transitional weather or with a lightweight sweater, denim jacket + sneakers!
They’re fun to wear, comfortable, and surprisingly flattering. This “frumpy 90’s flashback” style happens to be popular! They have an elastic band on the back and a removable belt.
STYLE TIP
Remember to pair brights with brights and pastels with pastels. Keep your pieces with the same temperature family to create a cohesive look.
I’ll also style these shorts without the belt by pairing it with a t-shirt knotted to the side. The knot creates a focal point to replace the belt and give my figure a nice hourglass shape. The knotted t-shirt hides the high-rise design giving the shorts a new look.
You might have noticed puffed sleeves are huge! Pun intended. You can find them anywhere, but, I like this affordable version from TARGET. (The Abound version I’m wearing from Rack is sold out.)
What I like about puff sleeve t-shirts is that they are comfy and great for creating a “smart casual” look with various statements accessories. I purchased a pink and yellow one with the intention of using them for Zoom calls with clients while the weather is still warm.
Working from home? Wear a puff-sleeved tee front-tucked into comfy soft pants and a statement necklace for a great “smart casual” look! If you wear shoes at home, add a pair of printed slides to complete the look or polish your toes to feel luxe at home!
