Several posts ago, I wrote about a pair of shoes I probably could have passed on. (See My Bootie Mistake).
First, the shoes: I really like my Steve Madden open-toed bootie sandals. They’re great for spring, summer, fall (in California), but they come up above my ankle, which is not so flattering for a petite figure. In my opinion, it was a little too much shoe for my ankle/leg. (I also have really skinny ankles-not as glam as it sounds. My feet end up sliding around in a lot of shoes). They would look fabulous on someone with longer legs. Here is what they looked like before.
It’s a lot of shoe for my foot! LOL. I think it accentuates my scrawny ankles. So I folded the top down (on the inside) to the desired height and hand sewed where the elastic is. (You might recognize this picture from my last post on how to wear denim on denim.) I also used double-sided fashion tape to tack down the front and back. You can see a bit of ankle now.
Because my ankles are so skinny, the extra leather actually keeps my foot in the shoe better! What I need to do is take them to a cobbler and see if they can sew the leather down all around! But for now, this does just fine. I love my Panama Hat from Target. You can tell I wear it a lot!

I have the SAME problem with super skinny ankles. I know, it doesn’t SOUND like a problem, but it can be with shoes. Isn’t it fascinating how many things there are to consider when putting an outfit together!?

No way. I never would have guessed!!

Love the booties and that hat looks so cute on you!

Thanks Melissa. I wear the hat a lot with jeans and tee or else it looks like too much. LOL.
