“Momma, my colors are blush and bashful!” —Julia Roberts, Steel Magnolias
Pink on pink. Yep -pastels are hot again for weddings. I chose pink for my bridesmaids’ dresses 8 years ago, and my mother did 40 years ago! Pink cycles in and out, and I’m glad it’s back in.
When you’re on a tight budget like I am, you end up buying a lot of your investment items at the end of the season. This blush silk tunic shirt is no exception. I found it in the final markdown section at Marshall’s in the fall or the middle of winter 2015. It’s a spring item from Joie I got at a SIGNIFICANT discount. It just happens to be on trend with the color of the year for 2016 when I purchased it in 2015! Lucky me!
These Madewell mint jeans are also the case. I mentioned in the last post how much I enjoy their quality. I like to have one colored pants in my wardrobe since most of my tops are light neutral colors-mainly grey and white. I’m a big fan of the “shape uniform”, so those white and silver tops look the best on me.
I try to infuse a pop of color through accessories like scarves, shoes, or a handbag. Frankly though, I’m more of a “Francofile” and default towards “just wear amazing neutral basics”, i.e. re-wear and re-wear again.
This scarf boasts 10 years in my closet (also styled by my 4 year-old here). I wouldn’t generally mix a warm tone with a cool tone, but the lighting in my bedroom is bad and I didn’t realize the difference until after the photoshoot. Whoopsie. I’m not one to waste a good pic though, so there you go.

Thank you Rams! It was so convenient that pastels were trending for winter-they roll into spring so perfectly.
