Outfit #8 of Winter Outfit Challenge
There is something effortlessly cool about a “black leather jacket” and the rough ’round the edges look. It took me a while to find the right one, even then, I got the sleeves and sides taken in a little to make the jacket fit perfectly. After I purchased it, I found it wasn’t as easy to style as I thought it would be! The slightly cropped length makes it a little more challenging.
This look, with a lightweight hoodie, jeans, and sneakers is the simplest way I’ve found to wear my moto jacket.

The second way I wear my jacket is with a floral dress. The chunky hardware makes it a bit masculine so I offset the look with a feminine piece to bring balance to the whole look.
I’ve also paired my moto over a textured knit sweater to soften the edgy look that comes with the big metal zippers. So far, I’ve only liked pairing the jacket with skinny jeans or a tunic sweater and leggings. I’m on the hunt for more ways to style this jacket so I’d love to hear your ideas!

I love your jumpsuit and how you’ve styled it! Such a fab outfit!
Thank you, Emma. I’m surprised that this jumpsuit turned out to be an all-seasons piece. I was originally just going to wear it in spring and summer!

Shannon, I would love to know who makes a good moto jacket for petites. With the zipper at the wrist it is hard (and expensive) to have it altered with a leather or faux leather fabrication and, on the whole, the other iconic details on the jacket front don’t line up well on a really short torso. I have all but given up except for thin fabric ones in the summer that I can leave open and roll up or fold under the sleeves.

Hi Krys! The hunt is on. This is a great question because I find that jackets are especially hard for us shorties. (I also had a fabric one for a while before I was able to find a leather version that worked for me.) A simple design with less details than a classic motorcycle might be better for you. I looked around to find some options you might like.
I like the snap collar style from Cole Haan, this “faux leather” collarless one from Alfani, and a couple more fun styles. Most of these are faux leather. KUT, Misguided, River Island. Top Shop has a couple of options: Leather Here-faux

Thank you, Lori! Today my daughter’s fever broke and she is in good spirits. I’m enjoying getting extra time with her at home today.

Cute leather jacket! It’s such a classic piece that can be kept for years!

Yes, I do plan to wear this for years to come! I’m also always trying to find new ways to wear it. I did a Pinterest search and came up with a couple of good ideas – with a pleated skirt, and with white pants and a white top.

I’m still on the hunt! It’s the one splurge item I want because I’d be able to wear it anytime over years even if pregnant…but same issue as another reader not finding good petite options in real leather. Aritzia had some but just didn’t love the colors this season, maybe next year! Love your outfits!

It can take awhile to find the right one, so don’t give up. If you find something you love that needs minor alterations, consider it. Even tho it’s hard to spend more money on an investment piece, it is rare to find a perfect fit off the rack. Since I’ve had mine altered, I wear it more often because the fit is so flattering. It was worth the extra $.

I love my moto jackets and find that I wear them often with just about anything! But I do love this look with a sweatshirt and jeans…all edgy and badass and stuff! Very cool look!
